Playing with the Basics

Although I love dressing up time to time, going casual is my preferred choice. From running errands to just hanging out, I love wearing something that is comfortable and chic at the same time. In this post you can see my outfit is very basic and perfect for everyday outings. The plain white sleeveless shirt goes perfectly well with a pair of black shorts. Everyone must own a pair of cute black shorts; believe me they go with everything!! You can wear them all day or put on your favorite pair of heels for the night out on the town. All in all a pair of white shirt and black shorts are a must in everyone’s closet.

The outfit also goes really well paired with a denim jacket which is another versatile article of clothing, pairs well with everything J

What I’m Wearing – White sleeveless top – Forever 21 (Similar Here); Black shorts – Papaya; Shoes – Aldo (via DSW Here); Sunglasses – Tory Burch (via Sunglass Hut Here); Denim Jacket – H&M

Life is a Beach

Saturday June 21st was the Summer Solstice, the first day of summer 2014 and also the longest day of the year. Well, many people can argue both theories but we are going to look past that and focus on this fun blog J. I took full advantage of the long hours and spent the day at Virginia Beach with my siblings and cousins. It was definitely a great get together but unfortunately we weren’t lucky enough to get much sun that day. It was warm but very cloudy all day which made the water even colder. But overall, it was a great day to lay out in the sand, enjoy the sound of the waves and the gorgeous summer weather.

Below are my top 5 essential items for the beach this summer – Please don’t hesitate to share yours below J. Thank You for reading!!
BB Cream – I absolutely love my All-In-One BBCream from the Body Shop. It’s perfect for a day at the beach when you don’t want to wear heavy makeup but want something light on your face to cover any red spots. This one especially is perfect for people with dry skin as it provides 24 hour hydration and also transforms from a white cream to suit your skin tone. I would definitely recommend it.

Sun Screen – I feel like all sun screens out there get the job done but just make sure you put some on. I always use this NeutrogenaSFP 55+ in the summer time. It blends well and doesn’t make your skin oily after. And remember to reapply after you’ve been in the water for more than an hour!! J

Sunnies - Beach is just not the same without your favorite Sunnies! Don’t forget to rock your favorites this summer My all time favorite are my classic Ray Bans Aviators.

Bikini – A modeista gots to have a cute bikini. I got this from VS last summer and absolutely love the color and the stripes Wish I had a better picture but you get the idea :)

Tote Bag – A tote bag for the beach is a must. You gotta be able to carry your essentials wherever you go so make sure you have stylish bag on your shoulders J

Natitude with an Attitude

On Friday I went to the #Nationals game in DC and had an amazing time cheering for the home team. Unfortunately, they lost to the braves. I’m not a huge sports fan or anything but I do love going to any sporting events and supporting the home teams. Baseball in the summer in dc are fun, you get to enjoy the nice weather, hang out with your friends and enjoy a nice hot dog from Ben’s chili bowl. <3

I always have a hard time picking out an outfit for the games. I would love to wear shorts, home team T-shirt and sneakers just like the rest of the people in the stadium but I’m always afraid I will look like a 12-year-old haha so I just opt out for my heels. Hi-five to the people that can pull that casual look off, I envy you J. But I also do like to stand out in the crowd so it works out ;)
But before you judge me, I’m not talking 5" inch stilettos but something comfortable and cute. You don’t want wear something uncomfortable and be walking up and down the stadium. Next thing you know you’ll be striking out before the game is even over ;)
In this look I wore blue/black jeans with a flirty pink peplum top with very comfortable floral heels.

Thank you for reading.

Chevron Pants

I fell in love with these black and white chevron pants the minute i saw them. I also thought they might not look good on me as they are a little long but when i tried them on they were the perfect length with heels. So I HAD to get them!! I wore them around town during the day in DC and I absolutely loved how comfortable they were. The slit comes up to an appropriate length and the shorts underneath just makes it perfect for any occasion :).

What I'm wearing: Chevron Pants - Marshalls. Crop Top - Forever 21 (Similar Here). Heels: Charlotte Russe (Similar Here). Earring - H&M. Necklace - Antique - Mom's old jewelry :)

Petite Modeista

Hello my beautiful people!

Welcome to Petite Modeista. First of all, let me clarify where the name 'Petite Modeista' came from. My name is Dhwaja, I'm of Indian Origin, 5'0 and PROUD!!! Therefore, like other 'short' people I fall under the category 'Petite'. And let me tell you, I have heard pretty much every short joke that's out there lol (i.e. OMG Did you get shorter over night? -__- Are you allowed to ride roller coasters? etc). However, there are also perks to being short. For instance, when taking pictures in a big group, you get to stand in the front of the crowd, therefore your whole body is in the picture as oppose to just your floating head in the back :). I love taking/being in pictures so definitely don't mind that at all :). Also, you get people to help you on airplanes. I really hate stuffing my bags in the overhead compartments so it's always nice to have someone do that for you. Anyway, before i get sidetracked and go on on about this let me get back to the purpose of this post.

"Mode" comes from the French translation for Fashion. So rather than saying "Fashion-ista" I added a little twist with "Modeista". Fashion/Style is my Passion. I love shopping for unique items and always browsing the internet for inspiration. However, one thing I'll tell you is that I don't really like going shopping with people when I'm serious about finding stuff. I rarely ask for peoples advice whether they like how this looks on me or not because I know my body better than anyone. If i like how it looks I GET IT! I'm also very picky when it comes to clothes and usually the second I eye something and like it, it's definitely going home with me.

Please be aware that this blog will be very versatile as I plan on sharing my outfits, things that inspire ME, and lots of other cool stuff. I look forward to sharing my vision with you all and hope to inspire at least some of you :)

Yours Truly
Dhwaja
